For some parents, Election Day is just another Tuesday.
Playtime at the Polls aims to lift the voices of those doing the important job of raising the next generation.
In 2020, we aim to be in one polling center in every town & city in Rhode Island.
Between working, pick-ups, soccer, homework and making dinner, it can be a struggle to fit in a trip to the polls.
People in their child-rearing years vote nearly 25% less frequently than folks 65 years and older. (www.census.gov)
We can't elect leaders that reflect our values if we don't practically address the roadblocks that keep us from casting a ballot.
Too often, parents must choose to pay for extra childcare in order to vote.
By meeting families where they are, kids will learn about their impact & civic duty, creating a new generation of active & engaged voters.
